WESTINGHOUSE REASSESSMENT OF BULLETIN 88-02 RESPONSES (TAC NOS. 67320 AND 67321)
RE:
SALEM GENERATING STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 A number of PWR licensees contracted with Westinghouse to perform the analyses requested by NRC Bulletin 88-02, "Rapidly Propagating Fatigue Cracks in Steam Generator Tubes.
11 During its review of these analyses, the staff noted a pattern of deficiencies affecting a number of these analyses and requested Westinghouse to review its analyses to identify and address these deficiencies.
In response, Westinghouse informed the NRC staff of its plans to reassess and update these analyses. A copy of the Westinghouse letter is enclosed.
You are requested to submit the Westinghouse reassessment to the NRC when you receive it so that the staff can complete its review of this issue.
You are reminded that item C.l. of Bulletin 88-02, enhanced primary-to-secondary leak rate monitoring program, is to be continued until the staff has reviewed and approved your response.
