SUBJECT:
TURKEY POINT UNITS 3 AND 4 AND ST.
LUCIE UNIT 1 VERIFICATION OF SEISMIC ADEQUACY OF MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT IN OPERATING REACTORS UNRESOLVED SAFETY ISSUE (USI) A-46 GENERIC LETTER 87-02 (TAC NOS.
- H68303, H68304, AND H69483)
I In a meeting between your staff and our staff on February 27,
- 1992, and in a meeting summary dated March 18,
- 1992, we requested additional information to continue our review of your implementation of Unresolved'afety Issue (USI)
A-46, Generic Letter 87-02, "Verification of Seismic Adequacy of Mechanical and Electrical Equipment in Operating Reactors" at St. Lucie Unit 1 and Turkey Point Units 3 and 4.
By letter dated Hay 15, 1992, you indicated that you plan to provide a response to our request by August 31, 1992.
Your schedule is acceptable.
However, in your response you also stated that "[T]he responses will be based on FPL's site specific program and on the equipment list previously submitted.
The walkdowns focused on anchorage
- reviews, above ground steel tank reviews and seismic interaction reviews for the equipment used."
The previously submitted equipment list and the scope for walkdowns do not completely address-the information requested in our February 27, 1992 meeting, and in our earlier letters dated August 4, 1989 and January 23, 1991.
Therefore, your response is not acceptable.
Your August 31, 1992 response should include the information previously requested.
If you have any questions or need further assistance regarding this matter, please contact us.
