The staff has completed its review of Generic Letter (GL) 83-28, "Required Actions Based on Generic Implications of Salem ATNS Events,'"

Item 2.2.1 for the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station.

Based upon your response in letters dated November 3, 1983 and September 15,

1987, we conclude that your means of meeting Item 2.2.1 of GL 83-28 is acceptable.

The staff was assisted in the review of Item 2.2.1 by our. contractor EGIwG Idaho.

The results of this review, with which we concur and support, are documented -in the enclosed contractor's Technical Evaluation Report.

Our review regarding GL 83-28, Item 2.2.2, "Vendor Interface for Safety Related Components" will be the subject of future, correspondence.
