AP-CW.1 LOSS OF A CIRC WATER PUMP REV:

5 PAGE 2 of 6 A.

PURPOSE This procedure provides the actions necessary to respond to a loss of a circ water pump while the plant is at power.

B.

ENTRY CONDITIONS/SYMPTOMS 1.

ENTRY CONDITIONS This procedure is entered from AP-TURB.4, LOSS OF CONDENSER VACUUM, when circulating water system malfunction indicated.

2.

SYMPTOMS The symptoms of LOSS OF A CIRC WATER PUMP are; a.

Annunciator Z-16 MOTOR OFF CW-EH EMERG OIL SEAL OIL BU alarm, or b.

Annunciator G-8 4

KV MOTOR OVERLOAD alarm.

AP-CW.1 TITLE:

LOSS OF A CIRC WATER PUMP REV:

5 PAGE 3 of 6 STEP ACTION/EXPECTED RESPONSE

RESPONSE

NOT OBTAINED CAUTION IF, AT ANY TIME DURING THIS PROCEDURE, A REACTOR TRIP OR SI

OCCURS, E-O, REACTOR TRIP OR SAFETY INJECTION, SHALL BE PERFORMED.

l Verify One Circ Water Pump RUNNING IF power greater than 8%,

THEN verify Rx trip and go to E-O, REACTOR TRIP OR SAFETY INJECTION.

IF power LESS THAN 8%,

THEN verify turbine trip and go to AP-TURB.l, TURBINE TRIP WITHOUT RX TRIP REQUIRED.

CAUTION TURBINE LOAD DECREASE SHOULD BE COMPLETED AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE CONSISTANT WITH MINIMIZINGTHE AMOUNT OF STEAM DUMP OPERATION.

2 Place EH Control In MANUAL And Reduce Turbine Load To-LESS THAN 504 IF turbine load can NOT be reduced to LESS THAN 50%,

THEN trip the reactor and go to E-O, REACTOR TRIP OR SAFETY INJECTION.

NOTE:

Automatic rod control is desired, if available.

3 Check Rod Control:

o Rod control bank selector switch in AUTO o

Control rods stepping in as required Ensure rod control bank selector switch in manual and drive rods in as necessary to control Tavg and minimize condenser steam dump.

STEP ACTION/EXPECTED RESPONSE

RESPONSE

NOT OBTAINED 4

Monitor S/G Level Control:

o S/G levels

- TRENDING TO PROGRAM o

MFW regulating valves CONTROLLING IN AUTO Per form the following:

a. IF MFP suction pressure and flow are low, THEN perform the following:

o Verify standby condensate pump starts.

o Verify condensate bypass valve opens.

o Close trim valve to control pressure.

b. IF S/G level NOT controlling in AUTO, THEN take manual control of the MFW regulating valves.

5 Verify Tavg TRENDING TO TREF Place ROD CONTROL BANK SELECTOR switch to MANUAL and insert or withdraw control rods as necessary to control Tavg.

6 Check Condenser Vacuum:

o Vacuum -

GREATER THAN 25 INCHES HG IF condenser vacuum less than 25 inches Hg OR decreasing, THEN refer to AP-TURB.4, LOSS OF CONDENSER VACUUM.

o Vacuum - STABLE OR INCREASING

Dispatch AO To Align The Circulating Water System For One Pump Operation (Refer to T-SA, STARTUP AND SHUTDOWN A AND B CIRCULATING WATER PUMPS).

8 Establish Stable Plant Conditions:

a.

PRZR pressure

- TRENDING TO 2235 PSIG

a. Verify proper operation of PRZR heaters and spray or take manual control of PRZR pressure controller 431K.

IF pressure can NOT be controlled, THEN refer to AP-CVCS.2, IMMEDIATE BORATION.

b.

PRZR level - TRENDING TO PROGRAM c.

Rod insertion limit alarms-EXTINGUISHED

d. NIS PR EI - WITHIN 2 5%

OF TARGET VALUE e.

Steam dump valves CLOSED

b. Ver'ify proper operation of charging pump speed controllers OR take manual control of speed controllers to control PRZR level.
c. Borate as necessary and withdraw control rods to clear insertion limit alarms (refer to affected rod bank alarm response procedures if necessary).
d. Borate/dilute to restore AI to within limits.

e.

Ensure proper operation of steam dump control system.
