OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE 5-1 to 5-4 5-4 5-6 5-8 UNIT TWO MAY, 1979 Unit 2 began the reporting period shut down for a refueling outage.

The unit was placed on the system at 115.0, but problems with the Traversing In-Core

.Probe (TIP) system required that the unit

)

'be taken off line at 2101.

The unit was placed back on the system at 1650, but another TIP problem requiredthe unit to be taken off line at 2345.

. The* unit was placed back on the system at 0512 and again off system at 2207 to repair

a. steam leak on the.. turbine hood.

The unit was placed on line at.2303 and fuel precon-ditioning commenced.

The unit reached 800 MWe on May 13th, which it averaged for the remainder of.the month.

SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE UNIT THREE MAY,.1979 5-1 Unit 3 began the month operating at 612 MWe.

The unit went off line at 2134 to change the stator water cooling filters.

5-2 The unit was placed back on line at 0106 and commenced a load increase.

5~5 to 5-19 The unit averaged BOO MWe until the turbine tripped at 2301 on high reactor water level due to failure*of "A" feedwater regulating valve to close below 20%.

5-20 to 5-31 The unit was placed back on system at 1301 and averaged 775 MWe until the turbine
