PURDUE UNIVERSITY RESEARCH REACTOR - REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RE: PHYSICAL SECURITY PLAN REVIEW FOR LICENSE RENEWAL (TAC NO. ME1594)

Dear Dr. Bean:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is continuing its review of your application for the renewal of Facility Operating License No. R-87, dated July 7, 2008, (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML083040443), as supplemented, for the Purdue University Research Reactor (Purdue). The license renewal review includes an NRC staff review of the Purdue Physical Security Plan (PSP), Revision 4, dated October 21, 2000, for compliance with the regulations contained in Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 73, Physical Protection of Plants and Materials. During our review, questions have arisen for which additional information is needed. Please provide responses to the enclosed request for additional information (RAI) within 30 days from the date of this letter.

In accordance with 10 CFR 50.30(b), you must execute your response in a signed, original document under oath or affirmation. Your response must be submitted in accordance with 10 CFR 50.4, Written communications. Information included in your response that is considered sensitive or proprietary, that you seek to have withheld from the public, must be marked in accordance with 10 CFR 2.390, Public inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding. Any information related to security should be submitted in accordance with 10 CFR 73.21, Protection of Safeguards Information: Performance Requirements. Following receipt of the additional information, we will continue our evaluation of your renewal request.
