September 11, 1986 Dockets Nos. 50-269, 50-270 and 50-287 Mr. Hal B. Tucker Vice President - Nuclear Production Duke Power Company P. 0. Box 33189 422 South Church Street Charlotte, North Carolina 28242
Dear Mr. Tucker:
SUBJECT:
GENERIC LETTER 83-28:
Item 1.2, POST-TRIP REVIEW (DATA AND INFORMATION CAPABILITY)
REGARDING: Oconee Nuclear Station, Units 1, 2 and 3 We have reviewed your letter dated November 4, 1983 and February 27, 1986 responding to Generic Letter 83-28, "Required Actions Based on Generic Implications of Salem ATWS Events."
Briefly, Item 1.2 requires licensees to have the capability to record, recall and display data and information to permit diagnosing the causes of unscheduled reactor shutdowns before restart and to ascertain the proper functioning of safety-related equipment.
We conclude that the Post-Trip Review Data and Information Capability (Item 1.2) at the Oconee Nuclear Station is acceptable. The details of our evaluation are contained in the Safety Evaluation.
Sincerely, John F. Stolz, Director PWR Project Directorate #6 Division of PWR Licensing-B
