RE: MEETING WITH FERC CONCERNING OCONEE Jeff, Meeting went very well. FERC reps seemed to think Duke may be stretching the intent of the PFMA to say that certain failure modes are non-credible, although they did seem to convey a sense that Jocassee is indeed better than your average dam. They were supportive of the notion that it would be reasonable for Duke to perform sensitivity studies on the effects of varying breach parameters on flood heights at the site. They provided a lot of good technical info for Goutam, Raman, and Ken to chew on before Thursday. We'll be getting together this afternoon to discuss how to approach the Thursday Duke meeting in light of yesterday's discussions.

MEETING WITH FERC CONCERNING OCONEE 1
In preparation for our meeting on Monday I've compiled the following information for your use The FERC Headquarters are located at 888 1s! Street, N.E. Washington D.C. )The easiest way to reach our office from White Flint is to take the Metro's Red Lind from the White Flint Station to Union Station. The travel time once you are on the train is about 30 minutes. The regular fare is $3.95 and the reduced fare is $2.35. Regular fares are charged from Metro opening until 9:30 a.m.; 3 p.m.-7 p.m. and 2 a.m. until closing.
UNION STATION: Once to get off of the Metro train, if you head in the direction the train is traveling you will go up an escalator. The Metro fare machines will be on your right. As you go through the fare machines you will have to go to your left. In front of you will be an escalator up into Union Station. Passing through a set of glass doors you will be in the shopping area of Union Station. Straight ahead of you (past the book store on your right) and down the escalators you will arrive in the food court. There are multiple places to eat based on your preferences.
The following link provides dining information in Union Station in Washington, D.C.:

The Metro fare machines will be on your right. As you go through the fare machines you will have to go to your left. In front of you will be an escalator up into Union Station. Continue past this escalator and head out the doorway from Union Station Metro to the 1" Street Exit. Turn right and walk about 2 blocks. (Keep the stone wall on your right.) The FERC building is on the left. The walk should be less than 10 minutes unless you are dogging it.
Once you arrive at the building I suggest you follow the driveway to the side entrance. Once through security please have the guard call me on X6015. I'll escort you to th- meeting room (Room 3M-3).
If you have any questions let me know.
