Enclosure CHANGES TO REACTOR SYSTEM BRANCH QUESTIONS AND LICENSEE RESPONSES PERTINENT TO THE SONGS 1 WATER HAMMER EVENT OF NOVEMBER 21, 1985
- 1.
Page 1, paragraph 2, change to read "Flournoy."
- 2.
Page 2, paragraph 4, change to read "The design rated flow of the electrically driven AFW pump is 235 gpm, and that of the turbine driven AFW pump is 300 gpm."
This revision adds consistency in that the design rated flows are provided for all three pumps.
The previously provided flow rates for the two older pumps were calculated flow rates.
- 3.
Page 5, paragraph 3 change to read "In this analysis, the SG level at 10 minutes is stated to be 50% of wide range level (approximately 10,000 lbs)."
The additional information will facilitate comparisons of steam generator inventory.
- 4.
Page 9, paragraph 1, change to read "The electrically driven AFW pump trips at a pressure of approximately 675 psig which corresponds to a flow rate somewhat in excess of 375 gpm, which is achieved at approximately 725 psig."
This revision more accurately reflects the previous discussions.
- 5.
Page 9, paragraph 5, delete "The pump has not been extensively tested at the SONGS 1 plant."
In addition, delete "but this will not provide long term operational information."
This revision more accurately reflects the previous discussions.
- 6.
Page 14, paragraph 3, change to read "The motor driven AFW pump design rated flow rate is 235 gpm and the turbine driven pump is rated at 300 gpm."
This revision adds consistency in that the design rated flows are provided for all three pumps.
The previously provided flow rates for the two older pumps were calculated flow rates.
- 7.
Page 15, paragraph 1, change to read "These two cases removed excess conservatism from analyses of the prior Case 1-6 submittal."
This revision more accurately reflects the basis for the re-analyses performed.
