Letter, K. P. Baskin, SCE, to D. M. Crutchfield, NRC, NUREG-0612, Control of Heavy Loads at Nuclear Power Plants, February 22, 1982 The referenced letter indicated that procedures for turbine gantry crane checkout and operation, reactor service crane operation, and operator qualification for polar, turbine gantry, and cask handling cranes would be completed by April 2, 1982.

We also indicated that we would advise you of an implementation schedule by April 9, 1982.

The purpose of this correspondence is to inform you of our proposed implementation schedule for the following procedures:

S01-I-1.79, "Operator Qualification for Reactor Service and Turbine Gantry Cranes" S01-I-7.27, "Turbine Gantry Crane Checkout and Operation" S01-1-7.28, "Reactor Service Crane Checkout and Operation" We have completed drafts of these procedures and are in the process of inserting them into the San Onofre Unit 1 procedure set.

Based on the effort necessary to implement these procedures, it is anticipated that the necessary crane operator training can be completed and the procedures implemented by May 31, 1982.
