Docket. Hearina From: kgny@aol.com Sent: Saturday, September 15, 2012 4:49 PM To: Docket, Hearing; Siarnacki, Anne

Subject:

Closing Indian Point Power Plant I am emailing now to give you my thoughts on the proposed extension of the Indian Point license.

I am vehemently opposed to this idea, as a resident of New York City and as an American citizen. I would be happy to see this plant shut down permanently, not just relocated, but permanently decommissioned.

I would like to see the viability of the Hudson River return. The current impact on water, plant and animal life in the river is nothing short of destructive.

I would like not to live in the shadow of the cataclysmic results of either a meltdown due to mishandling (the nuclear industry is famous for this), terrorist attack (it can happen as we have seen in lower Manhattan), or by natural disaster (as we have seen in Japan). There is no escape plan that could possibly keep New York City residents safe if this should happen. The risks are too terrible to consider.

The radioactive waste is already unsafe as uncontainable, unsafe as another target for enemies (home grown or from abroad), and therefore there is no rational reason to continue to produce this poison.

There are cleaner, safer ways to produce energy, and to reduce the need for the wasteful amounts of energy that are used currently. Nuclear power is not the way of the future. Shut it down. It is time for this country to wake up and stop the madness, and consider the safety of our sacred land and the people in it.

Thank you for your consideration of my views.
