Subject:

Please Shut Indian Point down

Dear NRC,

As you've likely read many letters already, I'll be brief.

Since plenty of evidence suggests we don't need the energy from IP, why risk it? Apart from the potential and possible risk from an earthquake, there are a myriad of other potential threats and possible ways things could go wrong at Indian Point. The Japanese are prized in the world for their precision and intelligence, yet even THEY couldn't prevent this disaster. When terrorists figured out how to ram jetliners into the WTC, we were absolutely unprepared--

we hadn't had the imagination for such a deadly and horrific scenario. My guess is, there are other unimaginable man-made and natural threats out there that could occur; it could be in a year or it could be in several decades. Perhaps if odds are in our favor, it might not happen. But to play Russian roulette with millions of people--lives that are so valuable not only in-and-themselves, but to the health and well-being of the entire country--is unconscionable. I hope you will do the right thing.

Sincerely, Alice Andrews SUNY New Paltz New Paltz, NY DOCKETED USNRC September 6, 2012 (5:08 p.m.)
