Docket, Hearinq aAr` E-S 3 From: Sara Knight [saraknight@me.com]

Sent: Wednesday, September 12, 2012 11:06 AM To: Docket, Hearing

Subject:

Shut down of Indian Point Although I believe that nuclear power can be a vital addition to our energy policy, Indian Point is located in an area where any radiation release would affect millions of people.

With an evacuation policy consisting of a contract with Rockland Coaches stating that their bus drivers would drive into the irradiated area to evacuate civilians (I have a bridge to sell you), the cost in human lives would dwarf 9/11 and even the Vietnam War. Most of us just plan on driving straight towards the plant so we go in the first wave.

Knowing that the plant was built on an earthquake fault yet not built to withstand an earthquake magnitude over 5 point something, and no plans made for multiple catastrophes, I wonder why their assurances are accepted so easily by government bodies created to protect the public. If you cannot ensure that the millions of people living in the area are safe from a radiation release, then the plant should have to shut down until it has made the necessary changes. That is your mandate from the American people -to protect us first- not protect companies and profits first.

Thank you.
