SCHEDULE REVISION FOR THE SAFETY REVIEW OF THE SOUTH TEXAS PROJECT, UNITS 1 AND 2, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (TAC NOS. ME4936 AND ME4937)

Dear Mr. Rencurrel:

By letter dated October 25,2010, South Texas Project Nuclear Operating Company (STPNOC) submitted an application pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR)

Part 51 and 10 CFR Part 54, to renew the South Texas Project (STP), Units 1 and 2, operating licenses NPF-076 and NPF-080, respectively, for review by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff). Due to a recent scheduling request from the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS), the staff finds it necessary to reschedule your ACRS meetings on the STPNOC license renewal application (LRA). This request, combined with the need to further assess the selective leaching of aluminum bronze open item, has led the staff to revise future milestones to "to be determined" (TBD). Enclosed is the staffs revised safety review schedule.

Specifically, the staff has revised the license renewal review schedule for the Safety Evaluation Report (SER) with Open Items (Ols), ACRS subcommittee meeting, the final SER, and the ACRS full committee meeting to TBD. This schedule will be updated once the new ACRS dates have been determined.

The NRC will continue to follow established review procedures and the enclosed safety review schedule to complete the reviews required by 10 CFR Part 54.
