UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 August 7,2012 Mr. Adam C. Heflin Senior Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer Union Electric Company P.O. Box 620 Fulton, MO 6S2S1

SUBJECT:

CALLAWAY PLANT, UNIT 1 - CORRECTION TO TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION PAGE ISSUED FOR AMENDMENT NO. 202, ADOPTION OF TSTF-42S, REVISION 3, "RELOCATE SURVEILLANCE FREQUENCIES TO LICENSEE CONTROL - RITSTF INITIATIVE SB" (TAC NO. ME4S06)

Dear Mr. Heflin:

By letter dated July 29, 2011 (Agencywide Documetns Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML111661877), the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Amendment No. 202 to Facility Operating License No. NPF-30 for the Callaway Plant, Unit 1.

The amendment changed the Technical Specifications (TSs) in response to your application dated August S, 2010, as supplemented by letters dated March 23, May 3, and July 2S, 2011.

The amendment revised the TSs by relocating specific surveillance frequencies to a licensee controlled program with the guidance of Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) 04-10, "Risk-Informed Technical Specifications Initiative Sb, Risk-Informed Method for Control of Surveillance Frequencies." The amendment adopted NRC-approved Technical Specification Task Force (TSTF)-42S, Revision 3, "Relocate Surveillance Frequencies to Licensee Control - RITSTF

[Risk-Informed TSTF] Initiative Sb."

By letter dated July 12, 2012 (ADAMS Accession No. ML12194A683), your staff identified a typographical error in TS 3.1.9, "RCS Boron Limitations < SOooF," that occurred during the issuance of Amendment No. 202. The error on TS page 3.1-22 is that the ";::" symbol placed before the reactor coolant system cold leg temperature limit specified in Required Action A.3 was inadvertently changed from a symbol character to a text character in producing the clean, typed TS page. The correct character is displayed in the previous TS page issued with Amendment No. 174, dated August 21,2006 (ADAMS Accession No. ML062370104). There were no TS changes to the TS page between Amendment Nos. 174 and 202.

Please find enclosed the replacement TS page 3.1-22 for Amendment No. 202. This correction does not change any of the NRC staff's conclusions in the safety evaluation associated with the amendment.
