2) Ameren Missouri Letter ULNRC-05823, "Clarification oflnformation Contained in Request for License Amendment to Adopt NFPA 805, 'Performance-Based Standard for Fire Protection for Light Water Reactor Generating Plants (2001 Edition)' (LDCN 11-0012)," dated November 9, 2011.

In Reference 1, Union Electric Company (dba Ameren Missouri) requested an amendment to Facility Operating License Number NPF-30 for the Callaway Plant pursuant to 10 CFR 50.90. The letter and its attachments were submitted for the purpose of adopting a new fire protection licensing basis based on NFPA 805 which complies with the requirements in 10 CFR 50.48(a) and (c) and the guidance in Revision 1 of Regulatory Guide (RG) 1.205, "Risk-Informed, Performance-Based Fire Protection for Existing Light-Water Nuclear Power Plants."

In Reference 2 supplemental information requested by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)

Staff was provided in order to complete the acceptance review of the application.

ULNRC-05851 April 17, 2012 Page2 On March 2, 2012 Callaway Plant formally received from the NRC Staff a request for additional information (RAI) related to this application request (Reference Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML120600186).

On April12, 2012 a teleconference with the NRC Staff was conducted to discuss draft responses to the RAI discussed above. During this teleconference, Ameren Missouri was requested to withhold responses to certain RAI questions in order to resolve follow-up questions as well as allow additional time for the NRC Staff to complete its review of the remaining draft responses.

The purpose of this letter is to provide the responses to RAI questions which have been determined acceptable to the NRC Staff. The responses to the remaining RAI questions will be provided based on an agreed upon completion date with the NRC Staff during the week of April 16, 2012. provides the available RAI question responses. Enclosure 1 also contains a description of changes to the license amendment request (LAR) that Ameren Missouri has identified in connection with responding to the RAI. Attachments are provided with the enclosure to show the LAR Transition Report changes from the original submittal.

This submittal does contain revised/new commitments which are provided in the revised LAR Transition Report Attachment S, Plant Modifications and Items to be Completed during Implementation.

The No Significant Hazards Consideration determination provided in the original submittal is not altered by the additional information provided in this letter.
