Re: EFH species for St. Lucie Hi Ann, EFH is designated by the fishery management councils (FMCs), except in the case of highly migratory species which is designated by NMFS. In Florida, we work under the South Atlantic FMC (SAFMC). Each FMC designated EFH and EFH-Habitat Areas of Particular Concern (EFH-HAPC) a little differently. The actual designation document for the SAFMC is referred to as the "final comprehensive amendment" - the citation is listed below, however much of the information is in: http://ocean.floridamarine.org/efh_coral/pdfs/Comp_Amend/EFHAmendSect4.0.pdf) The EFH is further described in the "fishery ecosystem plan" SAFMC currently manages 8 fisheries:

coastal migratory pelagics coral and live bottom habitat dolphin and wahoo golden crab shrimp snapper grouper spiny lobster Sargassum.

For more information, go to:

http://safmc.net/Library/FisheryManagementPlansAmendments/tabid/395/Default.aspx For the HMS species, the best reference is:

NMFS. 2009. Amendment 1 to the Consolidated Highly Migratory Species Fishery Management Plan, Chapter 5: Essential Fish Habitat. Available on-line at: http://www.nmfs.noaa.gov/sfa/hms/EFH/Final/FEIS_Amendment_1_Chapter5.pdf References mentioned above:

Hi Jocelyn, I left a voicemail earlier today, but thought I would also convey what information I am looking for in writing. I am developing an EFH assessment for the power uprate at the St. Lucie Nuclear Facility. I want to be sure I am using the most up to date references for determining which fishery management plans to use for species habitat assessment. The 2010 Essential Fish Habitat - South Atlantic Region document lists the following FMPs:

Shrimp Red drum Snapper-Grouper Coastal Migratory Pelagics 1

Golden crab Spiny lobster Coral and Coral Reef Calico Scallop Dolphin-wahoo Sargassum Is this the most correct version to use? The website, http://www.habitat.noaa.gov/protection/efh/newInv/index.html lists other species that are not included in these FMP designations and does not include red drum, scallop, or sargassum.

Also, the June 2009 amendment to highly migratory species FMP EFH seems to be the most recent version of species for EFH in this category. Is this the correct version to use for these as well?

Thank you for your help!
