ISSUANCE OF SPECIAL NUCLEAR MATERIALS LICENSE NO. SNM-2014 FOR WATTS BAR NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT 2 (TAC L32918)
Dear Mr. Bhatnagar:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has issued Materials License SNM-2014 (Enclosure 1), pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 70, for Watts Bar Nuclear Plant (WBN), Unit 2. By letter, dated November 12, 2009, (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession Number ML100120487), and supplemented on July 30 (ADAMS Accession Number ML103570133), September 17 (ADAMS Accession Number ML102600474), and September 21, 2010 (ADAMS Accession Number ML102640358), and January 25 (ADAMS Accession Number ML110280191), and April 29, 2011 (ADAMS Accession Number ML11124A059), Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) requested a license to authorize the receipt, possession, inspection, and storage of special nuclear material (SNM) in the form of 193 fresh fuel assemblies at WBN, Unit 2 in Spring City, Tennessee. TVA plans to use this SNM in the future operation of its proposed WBN, Unit 2.
The license is set to expire on June 30, 2013. This 10 CFR Part 70 license is issued following the preparation and publication of an Environmental Assessment (EA) and a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) related to this action. The EA and FONSI were published in the Federal Register on June 13, 2011 (76 FR 34273).
Upon issuance of this license, TAC L32918 will be closed.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter and the enclosures will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publically Available Records System component of the NRCs document system (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
