- Ken, It is good to hear that you are available to help with some of our reviews. Attached is a spreadsheet of the accession numbers of the reviews. The first couple have been completed.
Any insights as to which plants you may be most familiar with would be helpful in our parsing the list of plants.
We hope to get the task order out early June, but these things can't be estimated with precision. Some of the plants have two separate submittals due to preapprovals.

SEP-06-2007 19:14 P. 13 Urgency Statement for Job Code N6526 This work is urgently needed to meet the objectives of the Agency Digital I&C Steering Committee and is included in the initiatives of the Advanced Reactor Research Plan, draft dated March, 2007.
This research was identified as a high priority item in a Phenomena Identification Ranking Table (PIRT) workshop conducted to prioritize human factors issues associated with new and advanced reactors. As such, human factors research is needed to help ensure that NRC review guidance will adequately support safety reviews of the human factors aspects of new and advanced nuclear power plants.
This research looks at the human factors aspects of operations under conditions of degraded instrumentation and control. This research utilizes Brookhaven's experience and expertise in Human Factors and builds on previous work Brookhaven has performed for the NRC.

Human Factors in Advanced Reactors Brookhaven National Laboratory Laboratory:
This modification is needed so that a large number of potential human factors Issues related to new and advanced reactors that were Identified in earlier work can be prioritized so that the appropriate follow-on work can be performed in accordance with the new priorities. The various follow-on tasks will focus on the development of review guidance needed by the regulatory office for the review of new and advanced reactors. The NRC is expecting several applications for new reactors in the Fall of 2007. There is a potential that new guidance will be needed for the review of these applications. This modification will help focus the research needed to develop this new guidance in a timely manner based on reviewers' needs and schedules.
Therefore, it is important that this new work be initiated to meet NRC's anticipated schedule for review of new reactors and to prepare for the later review of advanced reactors.
The results of this work will be a series of reports that will provide a sound technical basis for the support of human performance reviev guidance or regulations for new and advanced reactor applications.
