'Managing Gas Accumulation in Emergency Core Cooling, Decay Heat Removal, and Containment Spray Systems' - Commitment Completion Date Change" The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Generic Letter (GL) 2008-01 (Reference a) to request that each licensee evaluate the licensing basis, design, testing, and corrective action programs for the Emergency Core Cooling Systems, Residual Heat Removal System, and Containment Spray System, to ensure that gas accumulation is maintained less than the amount that challenges operability of these systems, and that appropriate action is taken when conditions adverse to quality are identified.

Document Control Desk June 30, 2010 Page 2 In a letter dated December 14, 2009 (Reference b), Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, LLC (NMPNS) committed to send a supplemental response to the NRC within 60 days following the startup from the Nine Mile Point Unit 2 (NMP2) spring 2010 refueling outage to notify the NRC of the completion of those design changes that were to be installed during the outage. NMPNS has implemented design changes to minimize voiding in the Low Pressure Core Spray and Residual Heat Removal systems at NMP2.

The design change to add a vent valve downstream of the Low Pressure Core Spray outside containment isolation valve was not completed as previously discussed in Reference (c).

This change has been deferred to the 2012 refueling outage.

There are no new regulatory commitments identified in this submittal.
