Gentlemen:

This letter is to request an extension to August 11, 2006, of the deadline for response to the Notice of Violation (NOV) in the reference letter. Although the reference letter was dated June 29, 2006, it was postmarked July 12, 2006, and was received by Texas A&M University (TAMU) on July 14, 2006. It stated that response to the NOV should be submitted within 30 days of the date of the reference letter.

The extension would allow our response to be submitted within 30 days of the postmark of the reference letter. The reason for our request is to provide the time allowed by the NOV to prepare a complete response to the NOV without penalty for the delay between the date of the reference letter and its actual transmittal from the NRC.
