Request for RP-06 Clarification Bhalchandra, on Thursday, 2/12/04, you called and requested clarification of four abbreviations used in the CNS Rleif Request RP-06 dated 11/25/03. The following is clarification of those four abbreviations. (All page numbers and section numbers are from Attachment 2 of the 11/25/03 submittal.)

1. [Page 6 of 15;Section I.A] *DVSS". This was used in describing the Core Spray Pump CS-P-B, as a "8 x 14 x 30 DVSS" pump from Byron Jackson. I confirmed with Tom Robinson that this was a designator used by Byron Jackson. The cover page from the Vendor Manual for the CS_P_B, (Customer Puchase Order # 92-A-C5) reflects "DVSS" as part of the pump designation used by Byron Jackson. (I sent this page to you by facsimile on 2/12/04.)
2. [Page 6 of 15; item no. 5.] "IRD". This designator is part of a company name. This can be confirmed from the company website on the internet [1]. The website reflects that the company is now called "Entek IRD International", and that the former company "IRD Mechanics" was acquired by Entek Scientific Corporation. The letters "IRD" have no known specific meaning beyond the name of the company. I printed out a two page summary of the company from this website.
3. [Page 11 of 15; Part D.2.] The vibration eliminator on B CS test line was referred to as "CS-VE7.m This is simply part of the component identification number for a snubber on the Core Spray System. The database that contains information about installed equipment at the Cooper Nuclear Station shows "VE" as part of the complete designator for Functional Location of the snubber as "CNS-0-CS-SNUB-CS-VE7."

(I sent this page from the database to you by facsimile on 2/12/04.)

4. [Page 13 of 15; top of page]. The abbreviation "NEDC" is part of the designation of a calculation. This is an acronym that stands for "Nuclear Engineering Department Calculation." The Nuclear Engineering Department no longer exists. However, the acronym was retained as part of the calculation designation.

I can resend any part of the previous facsimile, or I can have it scanned in and sent to you by E-mail if the facsimile quality is poor. Call me to discuss.
