IOTE 1 Determining detector currents by measuring the voltage
across the detectors meter test points, using DVM, is the

most accurate method for measiring QPTR and for
determining the validity of a QPTR alarm.
Using detector current meter readings is another method to
quickly check that QPTR Is within limits. These meters are
not as accurate as the DVM readings and may produce
unacceptable results because: $)the meters on the 6

NOTE 1 The following determination may be made by measuring the
voltage across the 1000 ohm precision resistor in N E power
range drawer B. When using this method the Ohms Law
conversion from a millivolt measurement to a microamp
measurement only requires changing the unit designator (eg.,
280 millivolts converts to 280 microamps.
NOTE 2 Detector A is the TOP or UPPER Detector and Detector 13 is the
BOTTOM or LOWER detector on the NIS drawer El.
CAUTION
An inadvetent reactor trip may be prevented by ensuring
that no power range neutron high flux rate or power
range high flux channek are in the tripped condition
prior to taking EACH measurement in the NIS Power

DIRECTION TO TRAINEE:
I will explain the initial conditions, and state the task to be performed. All control
room steps shall be performed for this JPM, including any required
communications. I will provide initiating cues and reports on other actions when
directed by you. Ensure you indicate to me when you understand your assigned
task. To indicate that you have completed your assigned task return the handout
sheet I provided you.
INITIAL CONDITIONS:
A Reactor Trip has occurred from 100 % power.
The Turbine-Briven AFW pump has tripped on mechanical overspeed.
The MCW Operator informs you of the AFW pump turbine trip and that he ran the motor
in the closed direction for 40 seconds.
You are the Aux Building AUO.
INITIATING CUES:
The NlCR operator directs you to locally check the Trip and Throttle (T and T)
valve in the proper position to be reset and then reset the Turbine-Driven AFW
pump Trip and Throttle valve.
You are to notify the MCR operator after the valve has been reset so that the MCR
alarm may be reset.
