SUMMARY
OF DECEMBER 16, 2003, MEETING TO DISCUSS THE AMENDMENT REQUEST TO TEMPORARILY EXTEND THE COMPLETION TIMES FOR THE KEOWEE HYDRO UNITS (TAC NOS. MB6144, MB6145, AND MB6146)
On December 16, 2003, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) met with Duke Energy (the licensee) to discuss the licensees August 22, 2002, amendment request, supplemented September 12, 2003, that proposed a temporary extension to the completion times for the Keowee hydro units. The list of attendees is enclosed. The August 22, 2002, submittal; the September 12, 2003, submittal; and the handouts provided by the licensee during the meeting are accessible electronically from the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Public Electronic Reading Room on the internet at the NRC Web site:

The licensee presented a discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of several possible compensatory measures that could be implemented during the extended completion times of the Keowee hydro units.
