SUMMARY

__The Unit.began the-report period operating -at a .nominal -value-of l00% output until-1 548 hour0.00634 days
0.152 hours
9.060847e-4 weeks
2.08514e-4 months
s-on 2/24/03, when the Unit experienced an automatic reactor trip and safety injection due to low main steam pressure when the "C" Main Steam Isolation Valve failed closed. Per the Emergency Plan, an Unusual Event was also declared at 1600 hours0.0185 days
0.444 hours
0.00265 weeks
6.088e-4 months
on 2/24/03. With the plant stable in Mode 3, the Unusual Event was terminated at 1735 hours0.0201 days
0.482 hours
0.00287 weeks
6.601675e-4 months
on 2/24/03. Following evaluation of the trip and repair of the valve, Mode 2 was entered at 2001 hours0.0232 days
0.556 hours
0.00331 weeks
7.613805e-4 months
on 2/26/03. The reactor was taken critical at 2039 hours0.0236 days
0.566 hours
0.00337 weeks
7.758395e-4 months
and Mode 1 was entered at 2129 hours0.0246 days
0.591 hours
0.00352 weeks
8.100845e-4 months
on 2/26/03. The Unit was synchronized to the electrical grid at 0238 hours0.00275 days
0.0661 hours
3.935185e-4 weeks
9.0559e-5 months
on 2/27/03 and power e*calation was begun. Due to elevated and increasing motor bearing temperatures on the running "A" Main Feedwater Pump, an attempt was made to start the "B" Main Feedwater Pump when the 4KV feeder breaker to the "D" 4KV Bus tripped on overcurrent at 1301 hours0.0151 days
0.361 hours
0.00215 weeks
4.950305e-4 months
on 2/27/03. Output was immediately reduced from approximately 57% to approximately 45% as the "A" Main Feedwater Pump remained in service. During the course of the next several hours, output was allowed to reduce from approximately 45% to as low as 36% due to core end of life reactivity management before stabilizing out at approximately 39% output at 2000 hours0.0231 days
0.556 hours
0.00331 weeks
7.61e-4 months
on 2/27/03. The Unit continued to operate at approximately 39% output while motor bearing temperatures on the "A" Main Feedwater Pump were reduced and stabilized. From 2100 hours0.0243 days
0.583 hours
0.00347 weeks
7.9905e-4 months
on 2/28/03 to 0250 hours0.00289 days
0.0694 hours
4.133598e-4 weeks
9.5125e-5 months
on 3/1/03, power was escalated to approximately 58% (one Main Feedwater Pump operation) while evaluation of the bus trip continued.
