On March 12, 2012, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Staff issued a request for information regarding Near-Term Task Force (NTIF) insights from the Fukushima Dai-ichi aecident, to all NRC power reactor licensees and holders of construction permits in active or deferred status (Reference 1). Enclosure 3 of the March 1.2, 2012 letter contains specific Requested Actions, Requested Information, and Required Responses associate_d with NTTF Recommendation 2.3, Seismic. Northern States Power Company, a Minnesota cor.poration (NSPM)., doing business as Xcel Energy, submitted the required response to the Requested Information for NTIF Recommendation 2.3, Seismic, for Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant (PINGP) in a letter d_ated November26, 2012 (Refer.ence 2). In Reference 2, as later amended in Reference 5, NSPM ~ommitted to complete seismic walkdowns of inaccessible components during the Fall Refueling Outage (RFO) 1 R29. NSPM also committed to provide an updated seismic walkdown report with the results of the walkdowns *of the inaccessible components 60 ,days following the, completion of RFO 1R29.

The purpose of this letter is* to submit, as enclosures, an.updated seismic walkdown report with a summary of the results .from the walkdowns of the inaccessible components completecl during RFO 1H29. This letter completes all regulatory c.ommitments associated with the seismic.walkdown, specifically, "NSPM will complete th.e Seismic Walkdowns of the. lna'ccessible components listed in Appendix D, Plan for Future Seismic Walkdown of Inaccessible Equipment," and "NSPM will provide an updated seismic walk down report with the results of the walkdowns of the inaccessible components," (contained in Reference 2). contains Sem;itive Unclassified Non-Safeguards Information (SUNS!) of which the loss, issue, modification, or unauthorized access can reasonably be foreseen to harm the public interest, or the commercial or financial interests of NSPM. NSPM requ.ests that this SUNSI information be withheld under 10 CFR 2.390(d) (1 ). Pages which contain SUNS! information have been marked with a header, and the sensitive information, such as locations of safety-related components, has been marked. provides a redacted version of Enclosure 1 for public disclosure.
