SUBJECT:

UPDATED INSPECTION PLAN FOR PERRY NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNIT 1 (REPORT 05000440/2017005)

Dear Mr. Hamilton:

The enclosed inspection plan lists the inspections scheduled through June 30, 2019, for Perry Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) provides the inspection plan to allow for the resolution of any scheduling conflicts and personnel availability issues. Routine inspections performed by resident inspectors are not included in the inspection plan. The inspections listed during the last twelve months of the inspection plan are tentative and may be revised. The NRC will contact you as soon as possible to discuss changes to the inspection plan should circumstances warrant any changes. This inspection plan does not include the plan for security-related inspections, which will be sent via separate, non-publicly available correspondence.

In August 2017 the NRC conducted Inspection Procedure 92723; Follow Up Inspection for Three or More Severity Level IV Traditional Enforcement Violations in the Same Area in a 12-Month Period, to inspect your corrective actions for NRC-issued traditional enforcement violations. The NRC will also perform a biennial problem identification and resolution inspection, using inspection procedure (IP) 71152, Problem Identification and Resolution, in November 2017. Starting in June 2018 the NRC will conduct a design basis inspection in accordance with IP 71111.21N, Design Bases Assurance Inspection (Programs). This letter and its enclosure will be made available for public inspection and copying at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html and at the NRC Public Document Room in accordance with 10 CFR 2.390, Public Inspections, Exemptions, Requests for Withholding.

Please contact me at 630-829-9833 with any questions you have regarding this letter.

Sincerely,

/RA/

Jamnes Cameron, Chief Branch 4 Division of Reactor Projects
