NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-424/96-12 AND 50-425/96-12 I
Gentlemen:
Thank you for your response of February 13. 1997, to our Notices of Violation issued on January 17, 1997, concerning activities conducted at your Vogtle facility.
Your response did not completely address the requirements of 10 CFR 2.201. As a result of discussions with Mr. S. Chestnut. Manager of Operations, Mr. M. Sheibani. Nuclear Safety and Compliance Supervisor, and Mr. C. Tippins, Nuclear Specialist I. of your staff held on February 21 and February 24, 1997.,
we understand that: your inspection of latches on all other 1E motor control centers and 1E switchgear panels resulted in the verification that all such latches were pro)erly secured: maintenance personnel, as well as operations personnel, were ]riefed on the importance of properly securing the latches to 1E motor control centers and 1E switchgear panels, although the briefing of the maintenance 3ersonnel did not begin until January. 1997: and during the i
period prior to 3riefing maintenance 3ersonnel, walkdowns were done by operations personnel to verify that tie panels were properly secured.
We will examine your corrective action during a future inspection.
