  • 1985; TVA suspended construction of Watts Bar Unit * 1990-1995; TVA concentrated on construction of Unit 1 and addressed quality issues on Unit * July 2000; TVA informs NRC that Unit 2 is in a deferred status in accordance with Commission Policy Statement

Scope of Inspections in 2012

  • Inspections Completed in 2012:

- Six-week inspection periods that cover resident activities and weekly regional initiatives

- Quality Assurance (QA) team inspection

- Hanger Update (HAUUP) Corrective Action Program (CAP) team inspection

- Problem Identification and Resolution team inspection

  • In addition to three resident inspectors, 32 regional inspectors conducted inspections in 201 Scope of Inspections in 2012

- TVAs program and procedures were adequate to support ongoing construction activities

- TVA was constructing the facility at an acceptable level of quality

  • Eleven (11) severity level IV violations identified by NRC inspections. No escalated enforcement or civil penaltie No substantive cross-cutting issue Inspection Program Results
  • Adjusted Region II and Resident Inspector resources to match TVAs revised schedule for fuel load (June 2015)
  • Incorporated follow-up inspection efforts for Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) results (2010 falsification)
  • Except as noted, no changes to Inspection Program due to 2012 inspection results
  • Continue with planned inspections for Watts Bar 2

  • Over 500 construction inspection items in the Inspection Planning and Scheduling (IP&S)

database

  • Completed inspections for 270 IP&S items
  • Many other IP&S items inspected, but additional effort required to close the item
  • Many of the 500 IP&S items are historical that TVA previously addressed; Close-out inspection involves verifying proper resolution
