Inspection Sunmary Inspection on February 1, 1979 (Report No. 50-331/79-03)

Areas Inspected:

Special unannounced inspection regarding the licensee's actions taken or planned relative to a possible threat against the Duane Arnold Nuclear Power Station.

Specifically, the inspection covered areae relating to the licensee's physical security organization, physical barriers, access requirements, detection aids, communication requirements, testing and maintenance, and response requirements. The inspection in-volved 16.0 hours0 days <br />0 hours <br />0 weeks <br />0 months <br /> onsite by two NRC inspectors.

Results: Of the seven areasinspected, no apparent items of noncompliance were identified in four areas; three items of noncompliance were identified in three areas (Physical Barriers - Paragraph 2; Access Requirements -

Paragraph 3; and Testing and Maintenance - Paragraph 4).

Two items are considered to be infractions and one item is considered to be a deficiency. An Immediate Action Letter was sent to the licensee as a result of an item of noncompliance identified in Paragraph 3.
