NRC INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-280/97-08 AND 50-281/97-08
Dear Mr. O'Hanlon:
On August 29. 1997. the NRC completed an inspection at your Surry reactor facility.
The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
During the week of August 25-29. 1997. an inspection team observed selected portions of your emergency organization's response in key facilities during the emergency preparedness plume exposure exercise conducted on August 26.
1997.
The emergency response observed during the simulated accident was considered satisfactory.
Your attention is directed to the exercise weakness identified in Paragraph P4.6.b. of the enclosed Inspection Report.
As required by Section IV.F of Appendix E to 10 CFR Part 50. any weakness that is identified shall be corrected. Accordingly. please advise us. within 45 days of the date of this letter. of the corrective action you have taken. or plan to take. showing the estimated date of completion with regard to this exercise weakness.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice." a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
