NRC INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-269/96-19, 50-270/96-19, AND 50-287/96-19
Dear Mr. Hampton:
On December 10, 1996 the NRC completed a special inspection involving a tampering event at your Oconee Nuclear Station. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
The attachment to the report contains a chronological sequence of events.
The purpose of the inspection was to review the licensee's actions in conducting an investigation of tampering involving a foreign substance found in a limitorque operator limit switch housing. The inspector determined that the Oconee response to the tampering event Owas satisfactory. Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observation of activities in progress.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
