UPDATED INSPECTION PLAN FOR NINE MILE POINT NUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 (REPORTS 05000220/2025005 AND 05000410/2025005)
Dear David Rhoades:
The enclosed inspection plan lists the inspections scheduled through June 30, 2027, for the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2. The NRC provides the inspection plan to allow for the resolution of any scheduling conflicts and personnel availability issues. Routine inspections performed by resident inspectors are not included in the inspection plan. The inspections listed during the last 12 months of the inspection plan are tentative and may be revised. As discussed in SECY-25-0045, Recommendations for Revising the Reactor Oversight Process, dated June 5, 2025 (ML25042A278), the NRC determined that a broad, comprehensive review of the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP) is necessary to reflect improvements in industry performance and advancements in technology. The outcome of the comprehensive review and recommendations to revise the ROP baseline inspection program, when approved by the NRC Commission, will require a revision to this inspection plan. The NRC will contact you as soon as possible to discuss any revisions after the new baseline inspection program is implemented.
As noted in the attached inspection plan, in addition to baseline inspections, the NRC will implement Inspection Procedure 71003, Post-Approval Site Inspection for License Renewal, Phase 1 and 2, at Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, Unit 2.
In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 2.390 of the NRCs Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's document system (ADAMS).
