Sonic Surveys, a wireline services company, was authorized by the State of Texas to store sealed sources and neutron generators at its facility in Mont Belvieu, and to use them for well logging at temporary job sites in State jurisdiction. The company performed work at temporary job sites in NRC jurisdiction per a reciprocity request filed in March 2025 for the remainder of the calendar year. The scope of this inspection was limited to an evaluation of licensed activities (logging the density profile of an LPG underground storage cavern using a 150-mCi sealed source of Co-60) at an Energy Transfer storage terminal in Alto, Michiga The inspector accompanied the company's field personnel to the job site in Alto. Their Co-60 source was appropriately packaged, labeled, and secured on the wireline rig. Readings from independent surveys of the package were well below regulatory limits for transport and for members of the public. The crew's survey meter was calibrated semi-annually as required and responded consistently to the radiation fields present. The inspector observed the crew prepare the source for logging, using appropriate postings to notify other workers in the area of the potential radiation hazard as well as long-handled tools to quickly install the source on the tool string. The crew was knowledgeable of radiation protection principles and licensee procedures, and both members wore personnel dosimetry throughou The inspector reviewed records available on the job site, including shipping papers, vehicle surveys records, operating and emergency procedures, the well owner agreement, and copies of the company's state of Texas license and approved NRC Form 241, which accurately described the work performe No violations of NRC requirements were identified as a result of this inspection.
