In the referenced letter, Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L), now doing business as Progress Energy Carolinas, Inc., requested approval of a proposed alternative to use of the Boiling Water Reactor Vessel and Internals Project (BWRVIP) guidelines in lieu of specific ASME Section XI Code requirements. The proposed alternative (i.e., designated as Relief Request RR-39) pertained to the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP), Unit Nos. 1 and 2. The purpose of.this letter is to withdraw Relief Request RR-39.

No regulatory commitments are contained in this letter. Please refer any questions regarding this submittal to Ms. Annette H. Pope, Supervisor - Licensing/Regulatory Programs, at (910) 457-2184.
