Subject:

Arkansas Nuclear One - Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-313 and 50-368 License Nos. DPR-51 and NPF-6 Modification Of Proposed Technical Specification Change Request Conceming Implementation Of 10 CFR 50, Appendix J, Option B l

Gentlemen:

By letter dated April 11,1996 (0CAN049602), Entergy Operations requested changes to Arkansas Nuclear One (ANO) Units 1 and 2 Technical Specifications allowing the implementation of the recently approved Option B to 10 CFR 50, Appendix J. In subsequent conversations, the staff requested additional information conceming the visual inspection -

requirements for the type "A" leakage rate tests that were proposed for removal from both units technical specifications by the amendment request. The staff also requested additional information concerning the removal of a note requiring that air lock leak rate results be evaluated against the acceptance criteria of specification 3.6.1.2 in the Unit 2 Technical Specifications. Since these aspects were already required by our leakage rate testing program, we had omitted them from our previous submittal to minimize duplication. Upon further review, we have concluded that these requirements are consistent with that found in the impioved standard technical specifications and should be retained. Attached are the proposed changes to the Unit 1 and 2 Technical Specifications. The attached changes do not affect the conclusions of the no significant hazards determination of the April 11,1996 submittal.
