As described at pages 4 and 5 (indicated by a vertical bar in the margin), the sleeve was removed from the tube and sub-jected to extensive laboratory examination which revealed a
" shallow circumferential mark" on the inner diameter of the sleeve, but no degradation penetrating ~the sleeve wall.
