Diane Screnci, 610-337-5330 Neil Sheehan, 610-337-5331 New NRC Inspector Named at Nine Mile Point Nuclear Plant Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in King of Prussia, Pa.,

have appointed Beth E. Sienel as the new resident inspector at the Nine Mile Point nuclear power plant in Scriba, N.Y. The two-unit plant is operated by Exelon Generation. Sienel joins Senior Resident Inspector Eric Miller at Nine Mile Point.

Beths extensive experience as a resident inspector coupled with her commitment to safety will help ensure that the Nine Mile Point units continue to operate safely, said NRC Acting Region I Administrator David Lew.

Since joining the NRC in 1990 as a reactor engineer intern in Region I, Sienel has been a reactor engineer in the Division of Reactor Safety, and a resident inspector at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station, Millstone Station, Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station, and most recently at the James A. FitzPatrick plant. She is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., where she earned a bachelors degree in nuclear engineering.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring significant work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
