- UNITED NUCLEAR REGULATORY WASHINGTON, D.C. 201)55-0001 September 23, 2011 Mr. Mano Nazar Executive Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer Florida Power and Light Company P.O. Box 14000 Juno Beach, Florida 33408-0420
SUBJECT:
TURKEY POINT UNITS 3 AND 4 -CORRECTION OF AMENDMENT NOS. 149 AND 144 REGARDING ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES (TAC NOS. 80526 AND 80526)
Dear Mr. Nazar:
On September 25,1991, the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Amendment No. 149 to Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPR-31 and Amendment No. 144 to Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPR-41 for the Turkey Point Nuclear Plant, Unit Nos. 3 and 4, respectively.
The amendment made changes to the Technical Specifications (TSs) by (1) removing outdated material, (2) incorporating administrative clarifications, and (3) correcting typographical errors. On August 23, 2011, the licensee notified the NRC staff that a minor typo in the issued amendment affecting TS 3.9.11 was inadvertently included within the issuance of the amendment.
TS 3.9.11 limiting condition for operation, page 3/4.9-12, stated 56' -10' [56 feet -1 0 feet] instead of 56' -10" [56 feet-10 inches] with the issuance of the amendment.
The NRC staff found that the minor typo was not included in the May 28, 1991, application for amendment.
The NRC staff determined that this error was inadvertently introduced, and was not the subject of the amendment or the associated notice to the public. Thus, according to the NRC's policy established by SECY-96-238 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. 9611250030), this error can be corrected by a letter. Enclosed please find the replacement TS page, which includes Amendment Nos. 224 and 219. This correction does not change any of the conclusions in the Safety Evaluation associated with the amendment.
