NPF-12 COMMENTS ON PROPOSED AMENDMENTTO REGULATIONS CONCERNING THE FREQUENCY OF MEDICAL EXAMS FOR USE OF RESPIRATORY PROTECTION EQUIPMENT This letter provides comments on the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's pro posed rulemaking to change the required frequency of medical examinations to d etermine if an individualis medically fit to use respiratory protection equipment.

South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) agrees that the frequency of medical examinations should be determined by a physician, as guided by ANSI Z88.61984 recommendations, i.e., an examination every 5 years up to age 35, every 2 years up to age 45, and annually thereafter.

SCE&G appreciates the opportunity to review and provide comment on this petition for rulemaking.
