ALLEGATION / PERIPHERAL ISSUE ACTION yl M Concerns and any peripheral issues associated with a concern should be documented on a separate page. Each concern and peripheral issue, if any, should be documented in the followup report as is stated in this plan. If there are several concerns in one area, one page en be ssed. Otherwise, a separate page should be used for each concern.

/ / Concern No. / /

Peripheral Issues Associated with Concern No.1 An allegation Action Plan was reviewed and approved by the board in February 1994. This plan called for a file review to determine if this allegation could be closed out by a comprehensive review of the docket files and confirmatory survey by ORAU. The file review indicates that no significant releases of radioactive materials were made to the environment during the duration of licensed activities (1977-1986). However, one item is currently unresolved regarding radioactive releases to the sewer. The ORAU confirmatory survey conducted during the period May 13-16, 1986 indicated contamination in a floor drain. Specifically, ORAU found contaminated water in a floor drain (grid block K54) with gross alpha and beta levels of 94.2i 6.7 and 81.3

  • 4.6 picocuries per liter {pci/1) and uranium contamination in the sewer line. The file review did not indicate where these sewer lines terminate, e.g.

Wingfoot Lake, municipal sanitary sewer system, leach field or holding tanks, etc.

I.- Action Evaluation: The following method of resolution is recommended (circle):

H. Other (specify) : The staff recommends the following actions to resolve the allegations:

(1) Conduct an on-site inspection at Goodyear to determine where the sewer lines terminate. If the lines terminate into Wingfoot Lake, water and sediment samples will be collected.- If the sewer lines terminate into the municipal sanitary sewer, no further action
