NRC TM1-2 CLEANUP PROJECT DIRECTORATE WEEKLY STATUS i REPORT FOR AUGUST 3 - 10, 1987

1. DEFUELING

- Pick and place defueling of partial length fuel assemblies continued. Partial fuel assemblies E-12, E-13. F-10 F-11, F-12,

'4 G-11 and D-13 were loaded into defueling canisters. A total of 68 fuel assemblies nave been loaded into canisters.

- Five full canisters were transferred to the spent pool. One filled canister was placed in tenparary storage in the deep end of the refueling canal. J l

2. ENVIR0fMENTAL MONITORING I I

US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sample analysis results i show that TM1 site liquid effluents are in accordance with  !

regulatory limits, NRC requirements, and the City of Lancaster Agreea.ent.

TMI intake water and water effluents frota the station (Units 1 and

4) discharge are analyzed by EPA. Gama spectrum analyses of the l seven daily coaiposited samples for July 18 - 25, 1987 indicated no '

reactor related activity.  ;

EPA's gama spectrum analysis of the NRC's TMI outdoor air sample for July 30 - August 6,1987 showed no reactor related radioactivity. l' The water works for the City of Lancaster composited seven daily samples from July 19 - 25, 19o7. EPA's gama spectrum analysis of the composite sample showed no reactor related radioactivity. ,

3. DECONTAMINATION ACTIVITIES Decontamination ef forts con *,inue in the seal injection valve room.

Reactor building basement slucos is being prepared for transfer from the :; pent resin storage tanks tu liners for solidification.
