1. The South Texas Project includes two 1250 Mw, Westinghouse four loop pressurized water reactors.
2. During 1998, Unit 2 completed its sixth refueling outage in 21.5 days that included the following special maintenance activities:

a) Primary inspections on all Unit 2 steam generators (100% eddy cunent) with 102 tubes plugged, two tubes pulled, and video inspection of plugs b) Secondary side inspections and sludge lancing on all Unit 2 steam generators c) Reactor coolant pump motor interference removal for two pumps to prepare for pump removal d) Removal and replacement of reactor coolant pump 2D l

e) Removal and replacement of three thimbic tubes Exposure rates inside the secondary shield wall during this outage were higher than during previous outages due to an increase in the Co 58 activity in the primary system. i

~

The outage dose was 174 rem as measured by the electronic dosirnetry system. The highest individual exposure was 1.478 rem.

3. The estimated exposure described in this report is based on electronic dosimeter j (ALNOR) values. j l

Attachment 2 NOC-AE-00453 Page1of1 Primary Coolant Specific Activity Report Technical Specification 6.9.1.2.b requires the results of the specific activity analyses in which the primary coolant exceeded the limits of Technical Specification 3.4.8 to be reported on an annual basis.

Unit I and Unit 2 have not exceeded the limits of Technical Specification 3.4.8 for the calendar year of 1998.
