RESPONSE TO FEBRUARY 1, 2005, LETTER REGARDING USE OF THREE MILE ISLAND NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT 2 DECOMMISSIONING TRUST FUND

Dear Mr. Byrne:

Thank you for the notification, by letter dated February 1, 2005, of GPU Nuclear Inc.s plans to use the Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 2 (TMI-2) decommissioning trust fund for disposal of filters that are currently being stored at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory. The justification provided in your letter supports that the intended withdrawal from the TMI-2 decommissioning fund to cover the filter disposal costs, is being made in accordance with 10 CFR 50.82(a)(8).
