Viktoria Mitlyng, 630-829-9662 Prema Chandrathil, 630-829-9663 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at LaSalle Nuclear Power Plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Josh Havertape as the new resident inspector at the LaSalle nuclear power plant. The two-unit plant located in Marseilles, Ill., about 11 miles southeast of Ottawa, is operated by Exelon Generation Co., LLC.

Josh Havertape is a knowledgeable inspector who is dedicated to the NRCs important safety mission. His experience, training and education will help ensure LaSalle meets the high regulatory standards set by the NRC, said NRC Region III Administrator K. Steven West.

Havertape joined the NRC as a student engineer in 2013 and began working for the agency in 2015 as part of the Region III Nuclear Safety Professional Development Program. Prior to joining the agency, he served six years in the U.S. Navy submarine force, including four on the USS Greeneville as a nuclear propulsion plant operator. He was also an NRC-licensed research and test reactor operator at the University of Wisconsin, and worked in the private sector as an inspector of large components in power generation facilities.

Havertape holds a bachelors degree in nuclear engineering, and a masters degree in nuclear engineering and engineering physics from the University of Wisconsin.

Each commercial nuclear power plant site in the United States has at least two resident inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. Havertape joins NRC senior resident inspector Rob Ruiz at the LaSalle facility.

The NRC resident inspectors at LaSalle can be reached at 815-357-8611.
