No: 14-089 December 17, 2014 CONTACT: Dave McIntyre, 301-415-8206 NRC Announces Public Availability of LaSalle Nuclear Plant License Renewal Application The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has received an application from Exelon Generation Co.

to renew the operating licenses for the LaSalle County Station nuclear plant, Units 1 and 2, in Marseilles, Ill. The application is now available for public inspection on the NRC website.

Exelon filed the application Dec. 9, seeking to renew the licenses for an additional 20 years of operation. The LaSalle plant consists of two boiling water reactors. Unit 1 is currently licensed to operate through April 17, 2022; Unit 2 is licensed to operate through Dec. 16, 2023.

The NRC staff is reviewing the application to determine if it is sufficiently complete to begin the agencys extensive safety and environmental reviews. If the application is determined to be complete, the staff will docket it and publish a notice of opportunity to request an adjudicatory hearing before the NRCs Atomic Safety and Licensing Board.

The application and information about the license renewal process are available on the NRC website. A copy of the license renewal application will be available at these public libraries: Reddick Public Library District, 1010 Canal St., Ottawa, Ill.; Marseilles Public Library, 155 E. Bluff St.,

Marseilles, Ill.; and Seneca Public Library District, 210 N. Main St., Seneca, Ill.
