Indian Point License Renewal Statement Attachments: Roger Grange.vcf I am a 22 year resident of Rockland County and a 30 year resident of the New York Metro region.

All the questions regarding the renewal of the license for Indian Point Nuclear Power station lead me to the same conclusion: Do not renew the license for the reactors.

Although many experts say the technology is safe, human beings make mistakes, and the plant's proximity to the nation's leading population center, and its risk as a target for a terrorist attack, make it impossible to secure for the next 20 years.

Just yesterday, Japan announced that it will be eliminating nuclear power from its future.

We need to do the same. Nuclear power as a source of electricity in the New York City region is too dangerous and is unnecessary. Japan has survived after the tsunami without its nuclear energy and New York can do the same. Japan is planning to depend more on renewable energy sources from now on, and New York can do the same.

Not only is a switch to renewable energy sources safer for New York and the nation, it is also good for business. Development of new sources of energy is a growing industry and will provide an increasing number of jobs in the coming years. We should be developing new industries rather than propping up old ones.

Please do not renew the license for Indian Point nuclear power plant.
