year.Thepredecisionalenforcementconferencewillbeginat9:30a.m.,intheNRC'sRegionIOffice,475AllendaleRoadinKingof Prussia.Themeetingisopentothepublicforobservation.NRCinspectorsconductedaninspectionattheMeadowbrook,Pa.,facilityonSeptember17toreviewamedical misadministration.Theinspectorsfoundthat,onSeptember14,a patientwasadministeredanunintendeddoseof5millicuriesof iodine-131inpreparationforatotalneckandbodyscan,rather thananintended300microcuriesofiodine-123aspartofan evaluationforhyperthyroidism.Thetechnologistdiscoveredthat themisadministrationhadoccurredonSeptember15.BasedonthatinspectiontheNRCdeterminedtherewasoneapparentviolationofNRCrequirements:failingtoprovide adequatesupervisiontoassurethatatechnicianfollowedthe licensee'swrittenqualitymanagementproceduresledtothe
misadministration.ThedecisiontoholdapredecisionalenforcementconferencedoesnotmeanthattheNRChasdeterminedaviolationhas occurredorthatenforcementactionwillbetaken.Rather,the purposeistodiscussapparentviolations,theircausesand safetysignificance;toprovidethelicenseewithanopportunity topointoutanyerrorsthatmayhavebeenmadeintheNRC inspectionreport;andtoenablethelicenseetooutlineits proposedcorrectiveaction.Nodecisionontheapparentviolationswillbemadeatthisconference.ThatdecisionwillbemadebyNRCofficialsata latertime.
