SUBJECT:

Withdrawal of TSTF-509, Revision 0, "Reformat the Conditions, Required Actions, and Surveillance for 3.2.4, QPT"

Dear Sir or Madam:

The TSTF is withdrawing from NRC review TSTF-509, Revision 0, "Reformat the Conditions, Required Actions, and Surveillance for 3.2.4, QPT." TSTF-509 was submitted on July 2, 2008. The NRC accepted TSTF-509 for review in a letter dated December 22, 2008 and assigned Technical Assignment Control (TAC) No. MD9836. The NRC letter stated that th e review would require approximately 370 staff-hours. The NRC's estimated review effort significantly exceeds the funds budgeted by the industry for review of this Traveler. The TSTF immediat ely contacted the NRC to confirm the resource estimate and informed the NRC that the TSTF would withdraw the change if the estimate was correct. At the January 30, 2009 TSTF/NRC meeting, the TSTF asked the NRC to suspend their review and stated that we would withdraw the change.
