DC 20555 The enclosed abstract for Licensee Event Report (LER) number 97-001-00. Docket No. 50-295/DPR-39 from Zion Generating Station is being transmitted to you pursuant to 10 CFR 50.73(a)(2)(ii)(B) which requires a thirty day written report when any condition that was outside the design basis of the plant.
This event involved a discovery of the lack of sump cover plate holes contrary to plant structural drawing details.
Holes have been drilled into the sump cover plates thus meeting the requirements of the applicable design drawings.
However, investigation into the event is ongoing, and an evaluation is being l
performed to determine the safety impact of the event.
Once completed, a supplemental LER will be submitted.
